New ideas, new hopes, new officers
thoughts sought after
for a desperate cry for change in the organization.
August 1st, 2002 Sponsor Myron Greenfield, President Tyson
Bruner, and Vice President Nestor Gomez, took their first
role as new officers in Carnegie Library - the discussion
organization.
Plans and considerations for projects were presented on the
table as deplorable 'nostalgia' formulated new hopes for the
Jefferson Davis National Honor Society. Vice President Nestor
Gomez presented the implementation of calendar distribution
for members. V.P. Gomez then presented the new website for
the organization, perhaps the first major change in the organization's
need for improvement.
"They're all part of the Organization Plan. I do not
expect to make a drastic change in the organization, but I
do want to leave a foundation for new members to adopt. Last
year's group left us with nothing
my goal is to organize
the club and leave a solid foundation," he said.
V.P. Gomez continuously mentioned the need for organization
to take place if any change is expected; Sponsor Greenfield
added, "there is also a problem with consistency."
The discussion continued as Sponsor Greenfield presented
quite a few projects for the Davis NHS. He suggested serving
within the Davis community, rather helping in other sectors
of town. Such projects Greenfield presented to the officers
were:
· Food Drive
· Assisting the Homeless
· Volunteering for the Annual City of Houston Thanksgiving
Feast
· Mentoring for a nearby elementary
· Habitat for Humanity
Thursday's meeting only lasted a few minutes, discussions
were 'short and sweet', and several topics were left 'empty-handed.'
There is yet no mission statement for the Organization, and
nothing was discussed with Sponsor Greenfield about the first
meeting to be held the first day of school. It was indeed
a causual meeting, but hopefully it will be the start of a
desperate change in the Jefferson Davis National Honor Society.
